DARA TAN

for VP Sustainability of MEA

About Dara

Dara is a 3rd Year BS Management Engineering Student who has been an active member of MEA since her first year in Ateneo.

In her three years in the organization, she has made her mark in the projects she has headed, namely ACCESS and ACSC, as well as her involvement in STEPS, Fiesta, and LEADS. Because she believes that learning becomes exponential through diversity, she has also held leadership roles in a consulting organization, spiritual community, and sports varsity. Her tenacity, determination, and creativity, together with her warm personality, have allowed her to impact those whom she has worked with.

It is not uncommon to hear about the perception of businesses being solely self-serving. Given the opportunity to be the Vice President of Sustainability in MEA, she hopes that her work, grounded on purpose and leadership, will be able to empower the future movers and shakers of the business world to shift from this mindset and impart meaningful change to society.

What people say about Dara

"When I was Dara's core member for ACCESS, she would always check up on me, and seemed to know exactly what I contributed. When I became a project head, she was never too busy to answer any questions or make kamusta—and this even goes for stuff outside MEA. She's one of my leadership role models, so I really tried to relate to my core in the same ways she empowered me. I'm sure that as VP Sus, Dara will get amazing things done with her beast planning skills—but more importantly, she'll listen to MEAns as a mentor and friend who truly cares."
Annicka Koteh, 2 BS ME - ACCESS Project Head
"Personally, Dara is one of those people who are generally quiet, but as a leader, she's one of those who are not afraid to step up and get things done. Being one of my AB's in ACCESS, she was not only able to surpass all expectations and targets, but she was also able to maintain a home environment in the core. This is why I believe she is more than capable of leading the sustainability cluster and MEA to greater heights."
Austin Gaw, MEA VP for Externals SY '16-'17
"Dara is a lovable panda. She is someone who genuinely cares about the people she works with and the causes she champions. More than just getting projects done, she makes sure her co-workers grow and learn through their experiences. More than just turning a profit, she values creating a positive impact through what she does. Having watched her grow up the past 3 years, I believe Dara has the passion to make sustainability relevant as a force for good not only in MEA but in the wider community."
Cody Ipapo, MEA President SY '15-'16
